All for a deal I really wanted to land.
It all started 3 weeks ago when I received an email from a person I didn’t know. .. but the subject line caught me – “A letter from ____________”. The persons name (which I won’t reveal right now (is a VERY well-known entrepreneur.
A person who speaks on stage with Donald Trump... and a person I highly respect as a marketer.
Myrtle Beach, South
CarolinaHe had seen a testimonial I wrote for Dan
Kennedy, noted that I had done work in his industry, and wrote me a letter for
his assistant to send me. This email initiated a number of phone conversations,
a few proposals (and revisions)... and then, ultimately, my flight to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
When most people found out I was taking this trip without a signed contract in place, plus the expenses out of my pocket – they thought I was nuts!
To me - - it seems like an intelligent thing to do...
... Not only do I get to shake hands with, and sit down for a day with a person I have admired for years.
CanadaUS... Not only does a person like this take note of my initiative to cross Canada and the US for the meeting.
... Not only do I get to sit down in a multi-million dollar mansion with 8 exceptionally talented experts in their fields (also all multi-millionaires).
BUT to me... it was the fastest way to catapult my business and make even more of my dreams come true.
You will hear much more of this in the months to come. Let’s just say, this was one of the smartest risks I have ever taken.
Would you be willing to take the risk, expend the money needed, and completely ignore everyone who tells you not to do what you are about to do?

THAT is one of the reasons I love reading your posts, Troy, because you're not sitting in some office, talking about growing businesses, you're out there growing your own.
And yes, I've taken crazy "risks" before.
But really was this a risk? No. Anyone at that level doesn't waste his or her time. They knew they were going to do a deal before you got there. They simply didn't know how big of a deal (could be a test deal).
Congrats

One thing you do Troy is take intelligent risks. You've reaped great rewards and continue to garner more because you recognize the potential in something and once you weigh it against the investment, the smart decision reveals itself and you ACT on it.
Unfortunately, most non-entrepreneurs don't share the same mindset, so in their eyes, you're two steps shy of crazy. ;-)
For those entrepreneurs who shake their heads in disbelief at what you did ... I highly doubt they're playing the game at the same level you are or gathering the same caliber of "prizes".
To your continued success my friend,
Laurie Hayes
