In my last post, I spoke about flying down to South Carolina for a potential deal. It was a calculated risk I took that is already paying off.
What I didn't talk about (or I glanced over it) was that this major contract came about because of a testimonial I gave to someone else.
Testimonials are a MUST in your own business - it shows solid prrof that you deliver on your promises. Having an abundance of testimonials on yoru web site and in your marketing materials is PROOF that others can trust you.
But testimonials can go the other way too.
When I buy something, or take part in something, that was exceptionally delivered... a testimonial is key. I write up a short one (one paragraph max) - give specifics if possible - and send it off to the supplier.
This simple little technique has brought me some incredible contacts over the years, not to mention the revenues it has created for my business.
I encourage you to try more of this.
Whenever someone delivers something you enjoy - send them a testimonial. Either via email... or on your company letterhead, in a simple frame (include the hardware for hanging the frame also).
NOTE: Some people hand out testimonials like a Britney Spears hands out reasons to make fun of her. That is not a good idea! Do this carefully as too much of it will weaken the impact you have - and no one will believe your testimonials if they see them on every other web site!
Try this for the next month.
Think about anyone whose products you bought, articles you read, or advice you have followed - - then send them a thank you.
And remember to include your name, website and tagline.
See what happens.
